Exhausted by years of instability in the Middle East, the U.S. is removing its troops from Afghanistan and gradually disengaging from Central Asia. However, as the author of this article states, Washington must still uphold key relationships within the region to help them achieve the core policy objectives of their Central Asia strategy.
