World Rugby picks bankers ahead of scrum with private equity giants

Sky News reports that rugby union’s global governing body has hired bankers for a groundbreaking shake-up that could include selling a stake in the World Cup’s commercial rights. World Rugby has appointed Jefferies and Rothschild to handle a review into its options for new areas of funding, including a mix of media and financing partnerships, that would be invested into areas of the sport that are currently under-represented.
