
The Very, Very Long Way Home for Chinese New Year

China’s economy hasn’t felt the detrimental effects of Covid-19 quite like other countries, in fact it is now expanding at a faster rate than before the pandemic. It is set to experience a massive first quarter GDP growth spurt this year as well, with many people having a staycation in their cities instead of travelling home to families and businesses staying open during the Spring Festival. This opinion article in Bloomberg explains why this year’s holiday is very different to last and how China may be making up for the hit they took in early 2020 but at the expense of workers.
