The 2020 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation represent the significant progress of conservation within nine countries in the region. The restoration of the Amar Singh College Building by Intach, Kashmir Chapter, won the prestigious award for its promotion of the local industry, its modernisation of technical education and educating pupils on new methods to support their career goals. The building which has suffered over the years from floods and earthquakes proves that traditional buildings can, despite years of damage and if carried out carefully, be restored to their former self and can in-fact be more resilient to such disasters than modern buildings.
