The Committee on the Future Economy outlines 7 strategies for Singapore’s economic growth

 

The Committee on the Future Economy, co-chaired by Finance Minister, Heng Swee Kiat and Minister for Trade and Industry, S. Iswaran, says that Singapore has many opportunities to innovate and stay relevant in the world in the areas of finance, hub services, logistics, urban solutions, healthcare, digital economy and advanced manufacturing.

The renewed EBP was signed by Singapore’s Minister for Trade and Industry, Lim Hng Kiang and UK Secretary of State for International Trade, Dr Liam Fox after their meeting in Singapore on 21 Feb where they discussed the strengthening of economic cooperation and trade links.

Dyson opens new Technology Centre in Singapore

Dyson’s first research and development site outside the UK, established with £330 million investment, will see 1,300 staff from the centre working alongside Dyson’s UK-based team on software, acoustics and fluid dynamics. Founder and chief engineer, James Dyson said: “We need a large number of highly skilled engineers if we are to fulfil our future technology plans, so our Singapore expansion is important.”

NUS named fourth most international university
NUS named fourth most international university

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings has named the National University of Singapore as the fourth most international university out of 150 universities. Times Higher Education’s editor, Phil Baty said that NUS and Singapore “has become a powerful magnet for international talent – drawing in leading thinkers and scholars….and forming the base for existing and dynamic global partnerships….NUS stands as the flagship of a true global knowledge hub.”
