A Letter From Hong Kong

A Letter From Hong Kong

Last week we held the first ever Scottish Technology investment events in Hong Kong and Shenzhen. Bringing together investors and entrepreneurs in a unique pitching format, it was a great opportunity to introduce some of Scotland’s most exciting technology companies. The events were delivered by Informatic Ventures and Partners , including the Asia Scotland Institute. Supported by the Scottish Development International team, new relationships have been established with key investor groups and visits to incubator hubs in Hong Kong highlighted the strength and depth of support available locally.

A strategic priority for the Institute is to build international partnerships with key stakeholder groups across Asia through which market insight is provided, educating and supporting our members to gain a deeper understanding of countries and markets across the region. I am pleased to confirm two new partnerships in Hong Kong, where we have agreed to develop strong working relationships in the years ahead.

We are proud to announce that we will be working in partnership with the British Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. As one of Hong Kong’s largest international business organisations, and developing strong ties with China, this partnership will evolve to meet the needs of our members and supporters. Resources include a significant and extensive committee structure which includes a Scottish Business Group. As we build the partnership, we will be able to share with our members, market insight updates, sharing plans in developing and nurturing international talent and providing a rich and varied supply of speakers to both our Scottish based events and future digital events program. We are delighted to have the support of a very high profile and highly respected organisation.

Unique links to the latest market information will also be delivered through our agreement with Invest Hong Kong. This is a local government department responsible for educating and supporting overseas businesses and organisations to set up and expand in Hong Kong.  Facilitated by the Asia Scotland Institute team, our members will be supported to access dedicated sector specialists. This will also include working closely with the InvestHK team in London.

These partnerships set a new milestone for the Asia Scotland Institute and we will now build similar partnerships at a grass roots level, helping to inspire the leaders of today and tomorrow to engage with one of the most exciting and dynamic cities in the world.
