Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong wrote to British Prime Minister Theresa May on Thursday (Jul 14), congratulating her on her appointment. He said: “Singapore is a longstanding partner and friend of the United Kingdom. We share deep historical ties and common interests in many areas.”

World’s first rotatable laboratory for the tropics has opened in Singapore

BCA SkyLab, the world’s first rotatable laboratory for the tropics was officially opened by PM Lee on 20 July 2016. Developed by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) in collaboration with the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California, SkyLab aims to achieve breakthroughs with innovation in energy efficiency in buildings in the tropics. It is rotatable 360 degrees and has the capability to test at any orientation relative to the sun or wind.

Michelin stars for Singapore hawker food

Two modest food stalls in Singapore, Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice and Noodle and Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle were among 29 dining venues to feature in the new Singapore Michelin guide. 51-year-old Chan Hon Meng, who serves 150 portions of his signature chicken rice dish each lunchtime for around £1.40 a go, has no immediate plans to increase the price of his food.
