Miss Fukuda is a non-executive director at Investec, the international specialist banking and asset management group.
She previously held many senior international roles, including Chief Executive of the World Gold Council.
A British citizen, Miss Fukuda was born in Japan and educated in the United States and London. She is a graduate of New Hall, University of Cambridge.
In 2000, she was appointed OBE for services to UK-Japan relations.
Miss Fukuda joins other notable figures on the International Advisory Council, including Lord Desai, Dr Eamonn Butler of the Adam Smith Institute, and Vikram Singh Mehta, chairman of Brookings India, New Delhi.
