Malcolm is Chief Executive of VisitScotland, the national tourism board.

An expert in marketing, Malcolm previously held senior positions at Guinness and Guinness World Records, part of the global drinks company Diageo. He joined VisitScotland in 2001. In 2005 he received an OBE for services to tourism.

Malcolm said, “I am very much looking forward to my time with the Asia Scotland Institute.

“Asia is a hugely important market for Scotland, both commercially and culturally and the Asia Scotland Institute values the richness it can bring to Scotland.  It is full of emerging and established markets for tourism and with new direct flights from Asia to Scotland, we are now closer than ever and our relationship is growing stronger all the time.”

Roddy Gow, Chairman and Founder of Asia Scotland Institute, said, “Malcolm’s presence on our International Advisory Council adds considerable marketing experience and an in-depth knowledge of Asian and other connections that will help in building bridges in the international markets.”

Malcolm joins other distinguished figures on the International Advisory Council, including Lord Desai, Dr Eamonn Butler of the Adam Smith Institute, and Rory Stewart MP.

Last month Brigader David Allfrey, chief executive and producer of the renowned Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, also came on board.
