Vietnam Webinar – 18 Jun 1000
We are delighted to announce that we will be conducting a webinar to discuss current issues in Vietnam with HE Mr Tran Ngoc An, Vietnam’s Ambassador to the UK, along with his Commercial Counsellor, Mr Nguyen Canh Cuong and Mrs. Mai Ta, the Manager at International Relations Department, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The panel will address:
– How Vietnam has successfully managed the COVID-19 crisis, Vietnam’s economy and how its Government sees the future post this pandemic.
– Vietnam’s position in Asia and its international relations with its neighbours, especially China.
– The opportunities for investment and trade with the UK and Scotland.
HE Mr. Tran Ngoc An, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam to the United Kingdom
H.E. Mr. Tran Ngoc An arrived in London to assume his duties as Ambassador of Viet Nam to the UK in November 2017 and presented his credentials to HM The Queen on 3 May 2018. Based in London, he is also the Ambassador of Viet Nam to Ireland.
Since joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1988, he held various appointments in the Ministry, including Director General of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and ASEM Senior Official of Vietnam from 2015 – 2017, Director General for EU Affairs from 2013 – 2014, Director General of the Diplomatic Fund for Economic Activities from 2011 – 2012, Assistant Director General then Deputy Director General of the ASEAN Department from 1998 – 2004, officer of the International Organization Department from 1988 – 1990.
From 2006 – 2010, he was Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to the Republic of Finland and the Republic of Estonia. His first overseas posting was at the Embassy of Vietnam in the Republic of Korea, where he worked as Attaché from 1993 – 1996. Ambassador Tran Ngoc An obtained his MA in Political Economy and International Relations from Kent University in 1997, and BA from the International Relations Institute, Ha Noi in 1986.
Mr Nguyen Canh Cuong, Trade Counsellor at Vietnam Embassy to the UK
Nguyen Canh Cuong has been the Trade Counselor at Vietnam Embassy to the UK since January 2020. He was Trade Counsellor at Vietnam Embassy to Belgium (03/2016 – 10/2019) and at Vietnam Embassy to France (08/2011 – 12/2015). Previously, Canh Cuong was Deputy Director General of the European Market Department from Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade. He holds a bachelor’s degree in banking economics from Hanoi National Economics University (1984), a Master degree in commerce economics from University of Wollongong, NSW (1997) and a Master degree in Public Management from National University of Singapore (2006).
