We’re delighted to welcome Sir David Warren, a man with vast experience of working and living in Japan.

Sir David was the UK’s ambassador to Japan from 2008 to 2012, having served twice before in the British embassy in Tokyo –  from 1977 to 1981 in the economic department, and 1993 to 1998 as commercial counsellor.

He was also head of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office’s China Hong Kong department from 1998 to  2000.

Sir David will be speaking at the Royal Society of Edinburgh. His presentation will be followed by a networking reception. Please visit our registration page to book a ticket.

Sir David retired from the Foreign Office in January last year. He is now visiting professor at Sheffield and De Montford universities, and chairman of the council of the University of Kent.

He is also chairman of the Japan Society, the leading independent body in the United Kingdom dedicated to UK-Japanese cultural, educational and business contacts, and a member of the Advisory Board of Migration Matters, the campaigning group highlighting the benefits of legal migration.
