After the Golden Age: Resetting UK-China Engagement

In line with the theme of one of our recent webinars, a new British Foreign Policy Group report, by Sophia Gaston and Professor Rana Mitter OBE, calls for a fundamental reset in the UK’s relations with China and sets out a conceptual framework for the British Government to develop a UK-China Engagement Strategy. The report considers: how UK institutions will need to strengthen their resilience to Chinese influence; the nature of the future trading relationship; supply chain resilience, building knowledge and understanding on China; public perceptions of China; and the UK’s ability to influence moral issues. The report offers a constructive and informed basis for realistic engagement with China.
