The Asia Scotland Institute in partnership with the High Commission of Sri Lanka will celebrate the 150th anniversary of Ceylon tea.
The story of tea in British Ceylon began in the year 1867. A Scotsman, James Tayler from Kincardineshire, planted the first seedlings in the Loolecondera Estate creating what is today a world famous tea. James met his friend Thomas Lipton and together they built a very successful export business. Ceylon tea is famous for its quality across the globe.
This event is complimentary for members and partners of the Asia Scotland Institute. Following a brief introduction on the story of Ceylon tea and Sri Lanka, guests will enjoy a very special and unique tea tasting.
Registration will start at 2:30pm.
